Payment is required on the day of your appointment. We accept EFTPOS, stored credit card, and BPAY. Our prices for sessions with our psychologists are listed on our booking page here. Clients attending on a Mental Health Care Plan are eligible for a rebate from Medicare (currently $98.95). Please note prices may vary between practitioners.

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate when you have a valid mental health treatment plan and a referral letter from your GP prior to your psychology appointment.

You can still book an appointment without a mental health treatment plan, just be sure to have one ready before your session to be eligible for rebates. Get a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Here’s a quick overview on some specifics: Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 individual and 10 group psychological sessions in a calendar year (January to December). To access this rebate, individuals must seek a referral/Mental Health Treatment Plan through their GP. After an initial group of up to six sessions, the referring medical practitioner managing the client will conduct a review of the client based on the psychologist’s report. The review will determine if there is a need for further sessions and the referring doctor may refer the client for further sessions (to a maximum of 10 psychological sessions per calendar year). The current 2025-2026 Better Access mental scheme attracts a $98.95 rebate through Medicare (50-minute appointment).

If you have private health insurance and extras cover, you may be able to claim part of a Psychologists fee. Contact your health fund to check.

You may only claim from either Medicare or a private health fund for each session.

We are a private billing practice. Payment is required at the time of consultation. Medicare rebates are automatically applied for eligible patients. Our cancellation policy is 24-hours, please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make an appointment to avoid cancellation fees.

Amara Wellness & Psychology accepts NDIS clients. Please see our practitioners page to find a clinician that best suits your needs. Please note we can only accept self and plan-managed NDIS funds.

Yes, your Psychology sessions are confidential. Access to your personal information is restricted to your treating psychologist who adheres to the Australian Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics. In exceptional cases, session content (ie., confidentiality) may need to be discussed outside the therapy space. For example, if you give us written permission to (e.g., to talk to a family member or workplace), when there is a legal obligation (e.g. a subpoena), in clinical supervision (e.g., for your Psychologist to ensure they are providing you with the best possible care), or if there is a risk of harm to you or someone else. If such a situation arises, your psychologist will make every effort to discuss it with you before taking any action.
